Big Second Half Rally Leads Escanaba Past Gwinn

The Escanaba High School girls basketball team trailed for most of the first half but rallied in the second half to beat the Gwinn Model Towners, 69-55, Wednesday night in Escanaba.   • NMU's Beaulieu Wins WCHA Defensive Award

    Northern Michigan University Men's Ice Hockey junior defenseman Phillip Beaulieu has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week the league office announced Monday afternoon. Beaulieu tied for the WCHA lead among defensemen over the weekend with three points. All three of those points came on Friday when he tied a career-high with three assists in the 4-1 victory over Ferris State. 

  • Three Delta County Wrestlers Win In Marquette
    Three Delta County wrestlers won the championships of their respective weight classes at the Marquette Challenge on Saturday. Gladstone senior Adam Bruce won the 130-pound weight class with a 2-1 decision over Tanner Miller of Mason High School. Escanaba junior Hunter Larson won the 140-pound championship, beating Austin Sanders of Comstock Park High School on a major decision, 14-0. And at 152 pounds, Gladstone junior Cole Hansen beat Andy Simaz of Traverse City St. Francis on a 4-2 decision.
  • Escanaba Tops Gladstone In Delta County Battle

    The Escanaba High School boys basketball team topped the Gladstone Braves, 75-63, Friday night in Escanaba. Reece Castor scored 31 points for the Braves and his little brother Rane added 12. But the Eskymos had more balanced scoring, with Craig Kamin scoring 17 points and Jared Nash adding 13. Austin Willette  and Carter Hudson both chipped in with ten points for the Eskymos. Jared Crow contributed ten points for the Braves.
