Shorthanded Braves Tennis Team Tops Munising
GLADSTONE----Cody Frazer got a concussion in gym class and Dan Williams was sick. Munising was short a couple of kids, too, so what did the Gladstone Braves and Munising Mustangs do for their tennis match on Thusrday? They went "old school".They went to three singles and three doubles matches, and the Braves pulled out a 4-2 win on a windy afternoon in Gladstone. Aaron Parmet and John Hammar won singles matches, and Bryce Wolf...playing doubles with Neal Sabin in place of Frazer...won in straight sets at #1 doubles. Jeremy Kadish and Tyler Wells sealed the team win at #2 doubles. "Jeremy and Tyler played well," Gladstone Coach Rich Trombly said. "They have been steadily improving. Munising was missing some kids, but Ron Gendron has done a nice job keeping their (Mustang) program going." The results: Singles 1. Aaron Parmet, G, def. Noah Amderson, M, 6-2, 6-1 2. Chase Nebel, M, def. Hans Ahola, G, 6-4, 6-4 3. John Hammar, G, def. Kyle Holcomb, M, 6-0, 6-1 Doubles 1. Bryce Wolf/Neal Sabin, G, def. Joe Paquette/David Decet, 6-3, 6-1. 2. Jeremy Kadish/Tyler Wells, G, def. Joe Richardson/Jacob Schramm, M, 6-1, 7-6. 3. Joel Schramm/Nick Cercone, M, def. Travis Williams/James Melanowski, 6-0, 6-0. |
