Escanaba Girls Win Season Opener Over Marinette

ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School girls basketball team opened their season with an easy 69-38 win over the Marinette Marines Thursday night at the Escanaba Gym.

Sophomore Lexi Chaillier led the way with 23 points. Maddie Willis added 16, and Maddie Theut added 12 for the Eskymos. Marinette was led by Jordan Miller's ten points.

Escanaba got off to an 11-1 lead early in the game, and was on cruise control for most of the evening. Marinette (1-3) did close to within 13-8 after one quarter, but the Eskymos regained control in the second quarter to lead at halftime, 32-16.

Escanaba then put the game away with 24 points in the third quarter.

The Eskymos won the junior varsity game, 63-20. There was no freshman contest.

The Eskymos hosts Sault Ste. Marie Saturday afternoon.
