Esky Girls Use Defense To Drop Menominee, 61-41
ESCANABA---The Escanaba High School girls basketball team turned defense into offense to build a big early lead, and the Eskymos rolled to a 61-41 Great Northern Conference victory over the Menominee Maroons Monday night in Escanaba. Escanaba led, 14-9, after one quarter, and 32-23 at halftime. The lead eventually grew to 16 points before Menominee cut it to nine in the fourth quarter. The Eskymos ramped it up from there to win by 20 points. Maddy Willis led the Eskymos with 16 points. Chaillier added 13 points and Jeny Brandt chipped in 12 points, along with several blocked shots. The Maroons were led by Averi Stewart, who scored 13 points. Emma Hofer added eight. Escanaba improved to 7-3 on the season. Menominee's record fell to 6-3.
