Engadine Defense Stifles Rapid River Offense 60-47

RAPID RIVER---The Rapid River High School basketball team scored just three points in the second quarter and lost to the Engadine Eagles, 60-47, Monday in Rapid River.

The Rockets took a 5-0 lead early on, and Logan Hardwick had a big first quarter. But Engadine sophomore Andrew Blanchard had two straight baskets and senior Tyler Brawley nailed a pair of three-pointers as the Eagles took control in the second quarter.

It was 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, and then nothing went right for the Rockets in the second quarter. Engadine's zone defense was good, and Rapid River could not knock down an outside jumper. And the Rockets had trouble rebounding as well.

Engadine led, 26-15, at halftime. The Rockets had a spurt in the third quarter, but couldn't sustain it, and ended up falling, 60-47. Rapid River hosts Gladstone on Tuesday.
