Negaunee Boys Lose Overtime Heartbreaker, 51-49
PETOSKEY---The Negaunee Miners battled from behind to force overtime, but lost to the Manton Rangers, 51-49, in the Class C state quarterfinal Tuesday night in Petoskey. Jayden Perry's basket with two seconds left in overtime gave Manton the victory and a spot in the Class C state semifinals on Thursday at Michigan State University. Perry was one of three Rangers players to score in double figures. He had 13 points, while Trevor Salanin and Hunter Rull each scored 14 points. For Negaunee (20-5), Trent Bell led the way with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Fellow senior Dre Tuominen had 12 points and eleven rebounds in his final Miners game. Manton (21-4) led, 14-10, after one quarter, and 23-21 at halftime. The Rangers will play Grand Rapids Covenant Christian in the state semifinals Thursday afternoon. |
