UP Boys Basketball Teams Honored For Academics
EAST LANSING---The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan has released its All-State Top Ten academic teams for high school boys basketball.
The Top Ten teams are for each Class: A, B, C, and D, and include the combined grade point average of all of the players on the team.
Three Upper Peninsula teams made the lists and four others were honorable mentions.
In Class A, the Marquette Redmen were fourth in the state with a cumulative GPA of 3.615 on a four-point scale.
In Class B, the Gladstone Braves were eighth in the state with a GPA of 3.548. The Escanaba Eskymos were an honorable mention (3.201 team GPA).
In Class C, the Manistique Emeralds were honorable mention (3.362 GPA).
In Class D, the North Central Jets were eighth in the state, with a GPA of 3.518.
The Bark River-Harris Broncos (3.340 GPA) and Bessemer Speedboys (3.251) were honorable mention selections.
