Lundin Resigns As Gladstone Girls Basketball Coach
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School has lost its second varsity basketball coach in less than a week. Varsity girls basketball head coach Eric Lundin resigned on Monday, just days after boys head coach Clayton Castor also stepped down. But while Castor left his post because of disputes with parents and the school's booster club, Lundin says he is leaving to be able to spend more time with his family. Lundin says that he will stay involved, though, coaching fifth grade basketball instead. Gladstone Athletic Director Andy Jacques says he's not surprised. "It's for family reasons and I totally get that," Jacques said. "Eric did it the right way, too. He met the girls at 11:30 this morning and told them first. Some of them were crying. Some of them were mad. Eric did a great job here. I'm going to miss him." Lundin's Braves went 6-14 in the regular season, but upset Kingsford in the districts, and nearly upset Houghton in the district championship game. Jacques says that losing both Castor and Lunin is tough. "Those two guys kind of carried me through the whole season, as a new AD," Jacques said. "I'm sorry to see them go. I'm also excited to see what might be coming in the future." |
