Gladstone Boys, Escanaba Girls Win Golf Invite
ESCANABA---The Escanaba County Club was busy on Thursday as the boys and girls golf teams hosted the annual Eskymo Invitational.The Gladstone boys won the team trophy, as did the Escanaba girls. Carney-Nadeau standout Hunter Eichhorn shot a 67 to win the medalist honors for the boys, beating Gladstone's Bryce Douglas (71) by four stokes. Escanaba's Johnny Kositzky was third with a 78, and Gladstone's Rudy Peterson took fourth place with an 81. Escanaba's Megan Dagenais was the medalist on the girls side, shooting an 87. Her teammate, Paxton Johnson, finished second, seven strokes back (94). Escanaba also got third, with Sam Henderson shooting a 101. Kingsford's Haley Griebel was fourth (104). As for the team scores, Gladstone's boys edged Escanaba, 324-326, to take first place. Marquette finished third (342), while Carney-Nadeau and Escanaba's "B" team tied for fourth with 352 strokes. Norway and Kingsford rounded out the field. For the girls, only four teams had anough players for full team scores. The Eskymos won with 420 strokes. Gladstone was second with 462, and Kingsford took third with 468. Norway was fourth with 575 strokes. |
