Douglas, Peterson Lead Braves To Golf Invite Title
ESCANABA---Bryce Douglas fired a 69 and Rudy Peterson carded a 74 to help the Gladstone Braves win the Eskymo Gold Invitational Thursday at the Escanaba Country Club. Meanwhile, in the girls invitational, the Eskymos came out on top. Douglas's 69 came after he fired a 33 on the first nine holes, and wrapped up with a 36. He finished two strokes shy of catching Carney-Nadeau's Hunter Eichhorn, who fired a 67 to win medalist honors at yet another invitational. Peterson's 74 included a 36 on the first nine holes, followed by a 38 on the back end, to finish third overall. Menominee's Evan Kramer finished fourth after shooting a 76. Escanaba's top golfer was Nathan Rousseau, who finished fifth with a 79. Parker LaPointe and Trevor Denome both carded 81's. Gladstone's Jordan Ahlgren shot an 83. On the team scoreboard, Gladstone finished with 308 strokes. Escanaba was second with 328, Negaunee was third with 346, and Carney-Nadeau finished fourth with 350. In the girls invtiational, the Eskymos had the top two finishers, and they were the only girls to finish with scores under 100. Sophomore Paxton Johnson was the medalist with an 82, while senior Megan Dagenais was one stroke back with an 83. On the team scoreboard, Escanaba was the easy winner with 402 strokes. Menominee was second (429), Munising was third (443), and Gladstone finished fourth (449). |
