REGIONAL CHAMPIONS! Rockets Cruise To Title
RAPID RIVER---The Rapid River High School boys track and field team used the "home track advantage" to win an MHSAA Division Three Regional Championship on Thursday. The Rockets cruised to the title with 93 points under cold, windy conditions. Rapid River freshman Lucas Sundling led the way with victories in three events. Engadine was second with 48, and Mid Peninsula placed a distant third with 17 points. Bark River-Harris, Superior Central, Big Bay deNoc, and Republic-Michigamme were also part of the seven-team field. The girls championship went to Engadine, by four points over Mid Peninsula, 51-47. Rapid River's girls took third with 36 points. There are seven more regional track meets on Friday across the Upper Peninsula. |
