Escanaba Minor Boys Eliminated From Districts
ESCANABA---The Escanaba and Munising Minor Boys (age 9-10) played a wild first inning in their loser's bracket game Monday at the Karl Dickson Field. The teams combined to score nine runs and it looked like it would be a very long baseball game. But the teams managed to play some defense and do some pitching from there, and Munising pulled out an 8-6 win that sends the boys into the district finals this weekend at Norway's Marion Park. Escanaba's tournament run is now over. But early on, it looked like the Esky boys might be the ones making the trip to Dickinson County. Escanaba scored five runs in the top of the first inning. But Munising came back with four runs in the bottom of the inning, and tied the game in the third inning.
Esky's Tyler Lawson gets out of the way.
Matson went 3-for-3 in the game to lead Munising. Murk and Anderson both had two base hits, and Munising had a total of nine hits in the game. Gravelle led Escanaba with two runs scored. Tyler Lawson, Aiden Hanson, Ethan Rose, and Josh Bruntgens also scored runs for Escanaba.
