U.P. Girls Take Tournament Title In Wisconsin, 7-6
A group of Upper Peninsula youth softball players won a tough extra inning game in Wisconsin over the weekend to qualify for nationals. The 906'ers beat Poynette, 7-6, in eight innings, to win the title of the PGF Regional Tournament. Emily Moore pitched 4 2/3 innings and Karlie Patron tossed the final 3 1/3 innings. The U.P. girls led, 6-1, before giving up five runs in the seventh inning. But in the top of the eighth inning, McKenna Bullen brought home Erica Moore with a one-out single to break the tie. The 906 Fastpitch/Team Wireless squad now qualifies for the PGF Futures Nationals in Peoria, Illinois. |
