Bay College Boys Bounced From Gold Medals 96-76

HERMANSVILLE---The Bay College Norse men's basketball players who made up the Escanaba Drifters Class A team ran into a buzz saw Saturday afternoon at the Gold Medal Classic in Hermansville.

The team was eliminated by Menominee Dexters, but there was nobody from Menominee on the court. Dexters, made up of Michigan Tech University men, rolled over the Bay men, 96-76, with Ewen-Trout Creek grad Dillon Gordon leading the way.

Gordon scored 36 points in the first half alone, and ended up with 44 points.

Escanaba got off to a good start, leading 18-10, five minutes into the contest. But the Tech men got rolling from there, with Gordon nailing down triple after triple.

Nobody else scored in double figures for Dexter's, but everybody got into the act.

Escanaba got 24 points from Rasonte Smith and 19 from Tyler Willette. Joe Gibbs added 13 points, Kobi Barnes chipped in ten, and Marcus McKenney scored seven points.

In earlier Class A action on Saturday:

CRYSTAL FALLS MC NEIL OILERS 77, MENOMINEE DEXTERS 70---Austin Armga and Matt Curtin each scored 25 points in the morning action.

HERMANSVILLE JAY'S AUTO 94, WALLACE JIM'S PLUMBING 80---Mike Polfus scored 24 points and Trevor Ekberg added 22 for Hermansville. Jordan Sodergren scored 26 points to lead Jim's Plumbing.
