Braves Close Regular Season With Win Over Miners
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Braves closed the regular season with a 17-0 win over the Negaunee Miners Monday night at Don Olsen Field. The Miners came to town without several of their top players in a game that was arranged at the last minute to allow both teams to prepare for the district tournaments. Jared Crow pitched the first three innings to get the win. Zac Hanson threw a scoreless fourth inning. The teams played one extra inning for practice, and the Miners scored a run before leaving the bases loaded. Gladstone hosts a Division Three district tournament on Saturday. Iron Mountain plays Menominee at 10 a.m., then the Braves take on Superior Central at 12:30. The championship game follows, with the winner going to regionals in Charlevoix. Negaunee travels to Calumet for its district opener this weekend. Click the thumbnails in the ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS box above to see photos and video highlights. |
