Escanaba Minor Girls Hang On; Slip By Gladstone
GLADSTONE---The Escanaba Minor Girls (age 9-10) took a 6-0 lead and held on to post a 7-5 district tournament win over Gladstone Tuesday night in Gladstone. Madison Mott pitched the allowing just one infield base hit and striking out 15 batters. She walked five and hit two batters, and there were a couple of errors behind her, giving Gladstone plenty of chances to score. Gladstone had the bases loaded with no outs in the final inning, but Mott struck out the side to end the game. Tia Schone was Gladstone's losing pitcher. Earlier, Norway eliminated Kingsford, 8-1. Gladstone faces Norway Wednesday night at 6:00 at the Cannon Field in Gladstone. The winner will take on Escanaba Thursday night in the championship game.
