Lindsley Wins; Speedway Inducts 6 Hall Of Famers

NORWAY---Vulcan’s Dan Lindsley broke out the broom, netting a clean sweep in the Coca Cola late models at Norway Speedway Friday night.

Iron Mountain’s Dave Fraser picked a great night to win his first Auto Value super stock feature of ’18 – a night when his sponsor, Grow Maxx, is also the nightly sponsor.

In the 35 lap late model main Lindsley quickly darted through the field, grabbing the lead on lap nine and never looking back. Lindsley took the checkers after sweating out a handful of caution periods with Tom Lindquist claiming the bridesmaid spot in second. Scott Stanchina, Dean Varda and Jason Wells placed third through fifth, respectively.

Fraser led from the drop of the green and survived numerous yellows. The race was called early due to multiple crashes and spins. Point leader Tim Schultz took second, followed by Ryan Wender, Andy Gerwig and Anthony Schiefelbein.

Two time division champion Joe Ostermann came out on top of a race long duel with Pembine, Wisconsin’s Bob Schiefelbein to win the 141 Auto Sportsman feature. The victory was his fourth of the season.

The stock four feature came down the wire, with Tim Dolfurd besting Cody Skog in a door-banging, metal scraping finish at the line.

Former track champion Jamie Iverson wheeled his Dad Bob Iverson’s vintage modified to heat and feature wins while Channing’s Brad Minerick won the UTV feature.

At intermission the class of 2018 Hall of Fame inductees were recognized. They included former drivers Joe Haferkorn and Duke Gardiner, former DCRA club officials Peg Baciak and Ken Johnson and two longtime, local sponsors Elwood Anderson and Paula Pieropon.

Next Friday night August 3 will be Werner Electric night. A 50 lap late model feature is on tap paying $1,000-to-win. The sport trucks will also be in action. The raindate for this event will be Saturday August 4.
Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
