Wildcat Football Gets Ready For Miner's Cup Battle
MARQUETTE---The Northern Michigan University football team held its final full practice Thursday night before Saturday's Upper Peninsula battle against the Michigan Tech Huskies. MTU has won the Miners Cup eight straight years. The Radio Results Network will be distributing Rally Towels for fans at the football game this Saturday. The first 1,000 fans to enter the Dome will receive the towels at each entrance to the Superior Dome. Northern enters the game with a 2-6 record after beating Lawrence Tech, 65-7, last Saturday. Michigan Tech is 3-5 after losing in Ashland (Ohio), 27-7, last weekend. NMU senior running back Jake Mayon needs 90 more yards to become the university's All-time leading rusher. Mayon, and 19 other seniors, will be honored on Saturday. The team will also be honoring Anthony Herbert who sadly passed away in April 2017 but would have been a senior this season. Game time on Saturday is 1:00. It will be broadcast live on WUPT-FM (100.3 The Point), WCHT-AM (NewsTalk 600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com.
