SEASON OVER: Menominee Eliminates Escanaba

ESCANABA---The Menominee Maroons got off to a fast start and cruised to a 56-45 win over the Escanaba Eskymos in a Division Two district semifinal game Wednesday night in Escanaba. The Maroons will travel to Gladstone Friday for the district championship.

Menominee had a big second quarter to expand a 15-10 lead after one, and led by as many as 19 points at 44-25 after three quarters of play.

The Eskymos tried to come back in the fourth quarter as Taylor Ray hit back-to-back three-pointers and Nicole Kamin had a bakset and foul shot. They closed to within 46-38 but Menominee pulled away in the final three minutes to win the semifinal game.

Emma Anderson scored 20 points to lead Menominee. Kamin and Ray both had 13 points for Escanaba.

In the other semifinal, Gladstone trailed Houghton by one point at halftime but rolled in the second half to post a 61-42 victory over the Gremlins.

The Menominee-Gladstone district championship game will be broadcast on Kool 105.5 FM and NewsTalk 600 AM starting at 6:00 ET/5:00 CT Friday night.
