Miners Sweep Baseball Doubleheader From Braves
GLADSTONE---The Gladstone Braves lost both ends of their baseball doubleheader to the Negaunee Miners, 5-2 and 6-5, Tuesday in Gladstone. In the opener, the Miners scored five runs in the first two innings and then Tanner Peterson and Alex Munson combined to thrwo a three-hitter on the mound. Drake Forrest had two of Gladstone's hits, including a home run. Caden Alworden had the other Braves hit. The Miners were led by Carter Richardshon, who had two hits, a walk, a run batted in, and scored two tuns. Logan Fish added a hit and a run batted in. Zach Hanson took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs (two earned) on hive hits in two innings. He struck out all six outs. Caden Alworden tossed the final two innings and did not allow a run. He gave up two hits and struck out three. In the second game, the MIners scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning, and then held on for the win. Forrest hit another home run for Gladstone, this time with a man on, and Cooper Cavadeas added a home run. Dan Martin chipped in an RBI double. Richardson drove in three runs for Negaunee on a single and two groundouts. Jadan Grobar pitched five innings to get the win for Negaunee, allowing five runs on five hits, including two home runs. John Laurin threw the final inning for the save. Jared Crow went 3 2/3 innings on the mound for gladstone, allowing six runs (four earned) on just one base hit. He walked eight batters, however, and struck out seven. Riley Baldovski tossed the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out five Miners. |
