Houghton Wins Boys Golf Title; Peterson Medalist
ESCANABA---The Houghton Gremlins edged the Marquette Redmen and Escanaba Eskymos to take the championship of the MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division One boys golf championship Wednesday in Escanaba. Gladstone's Rudy Peterson was the medalist. Marquette was second with 323 strokes, two behind Houghton. The Redmen were led by Joe Luke's 78. Tyler Bergwall and Ethan Sellers both shot 80's. Escanaba was third with 323 strokes. Nathan Rosseau led the Eskymos with a 78, while Jaden Gravelle shot an 80 and Brett McDonough finished with an 81. Gladstone's Peterson completed his remarkable comeack from a broken leg from football season by winning the medalist honors with an even par 71 (34-37-71). Choi was secondm while Rosseau and Luke finished tied for third. Iron Mountain's Marcus Johnson finished with a 79 and Calumet's Landon Johnson had an 80.
