MARQUETTE--
-Northern Michigan University Men's Soccer scored late in the second half to send their match with Lewis University into overtime, but ultimately fell short as the Flyers took a 2-1 double overtime victory.

The teams remained scoreless for the first 43 minutes of the game, but Lewis managed to score with just 1:27 left in the half to lead 1-0 on a goal by Domenec Baumann. NMU managed to tie the game late in the second half to force OT.

In the 84th minute, senior Ben Hoffman (Petoskey, Mich.) took a shot that was deflected away by the Lewis goalkeeper.

Junior Vegard Ervall (Trondheim, Norway) was in the right spot at the right time as the ball was deflected right in front of him and the junior capitalized by putting the ball into the net to tie the score at 1-1.

In overtime, the Wildcats got the first shot but it went wide. Lewis finished the first overtime period with two more shots but both were saved by freshman Jonas Vorbau (Wuppertal, Germany), sending the match into second overtime.

Once again, NMU was able to take the first shot but the Lewis goalkeeper was able to make a stop.  With just 1:42 left to play, the Flyers managed to score a goal by Oliwer Mattiasson and took a 2-1 victory.

Vorbau finished the game with four saves. Freshman Ryan Palmbaum (Rocklin, California) finished with a team-high four shots while Hoffman and senior Callum Olpin (Norwich, England) both finished with two shots each. As a team, NMU outshot Lewis 11-10.

The Wildcats will return to action Sunday afternoon by taking on Lake Erie College at 1 p.m. The contest will be played at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich.
