Eskymo Hockey Schedule Includes Five Tourneys
 WELLS---The ice has been installed at the Wells Sports Complex, showing that hockey season is right around the corner. The National Hockey League may be on a lockout, but the Escanaba Junior Hockey Association has lots of opportunities for local kids. And the high school hockey season won't be far behind, as the Eskymos try to defend their district championship with a young team in the 2012-13 season. Coach Tim McCarthy will have to find boys to replace eleven seniors who graduated last spring. The Eskymos will have their normal home-and-home games with Marquette, Sault Ste. Marie, Kingsford, Calumet, and Negaunee. They will also have games at home against Alpena and Hancock, and on the road at Cheboygan and Waupun, Wis. The highlight of the Eskymo schedule is participation in five different in-season tournaments. Escanaba will host the Gil Versailles Memorial Tournament Dec. 14-15, and the Dick Johnsen Memorial Tournament Dec. 28-29. The Eskymos will travel to the Bay Area Reps Tournament in Traverse City Dec. 7-8, at the Painesdale-Jeffers Tournament at Michigan Tech University Jan. 4-5, and at the Michigan Public School Showcase in Chelsea Feb. 8-9. WCHT-AM (600) plans live coverage of all Eskymo hockey games once again this season, with Friday night games also appear on WGKL-FM (105.5).
