BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Wildcat women's basketball team fell to the Ferris State Bulldogs, 68-56, Saturday evening in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Trailing by nine at the half, the women continued their fight and looked to close the gap but the Bulldogs proved too much late in the game and were able to pull ahead, a lead the Wildcats could not make up.

With 26 points in the first half, the women shot 35.7 percent from the field but only sunk three baskets from beyond the arc.

Elena Alaix led the team in points through the twenty minutes, sinking five shots for 13 points. She also grabbed four rebounds as the women trailed the Bulldogs 37-26 at the half.

Jessica Schultz led the team in assists with two in the first half.

After being held to just four points in the first half, Jessica Schultz had 10 in the second half for a total of 14 Saturday afternoon and the second-highest point total on the Wildcats.

Schultz also had 10 rebounds in the matchup to secure the double-double.
Makaylee Kuhn was the third Wildcat to post double-digit numbers in the points category, going five of 11 for 13 points.

The women are back home at the Berry Events Center this coming Thursday, February 20, with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Grand Valley State University.

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — The Wildcat men's basketball team led at the half, 43-38, but were unable to hold back the offensive power in the second as they fell at the buzzer to Ferris State, 71-68.

On the afternoon, the men hit 43.4 percent of their shots from the field and went 14 of 33 from beyond the arc, or 42.4 percent.

The Wildcats had 27 rebounds in the game, led by Myles Howard with six. He also had the second-best assist total with three, behind Sam Taylor's seven assists and 21 points.

Ben Wolf posted the second highest point total for NMU against the Bulldogs as his 14 bench points helped keep the Wildcats' hopes alive late.

Alec Fruin's game-tying shot as time expired came just shy as the team finished the day with 68 points to the Bulldogs' 71.

The Wildcats will play out the remainder of their season at home with upcoming games against Grand Valley State, Davenport and Michigan Tech.

The GVSU game will start at 5:30 p.m. this coming Thursday (February 20) before honoring the senior nights on Saturday between the men's and women's games.
