Dawson, Lindberg Lead Redmen Soccer In Rout

KINGSFORD---The Marquette Redmen boys soccer team traveled to Kingsford Tuesday night and rolled to a 6-0 win in the first half of a home-and-home series.

Sophomore Max Dawson had a hat trick and senior  Nick Lindberg had a goal and four assists.

It started with Dawson taking a cross pass from Lindberg at the 7 minute mark. Lindberg then found freshmen Ethan Sandstrom 4 minutes later for the 2-0 lead.

Lindberg distributed another pass to Dawson for a chip in goal and a 3-0 lead.

Junior Axel Vermaat finished the first half goal scoring off a corner kick with an assist credited to junior Enzo Stabile. Senior Liam Jeevar tended net facing 1 shot.

After the half, the Lindberg-Dawson combo struck again with Dawson getting the hat trick in goals. Lindberg finished the scoring off from a Sandstrom pass.

Junior Harrison Anthos took net duties in the second half and stopped all 5 shots.

“Offensively Nick Lindberg was almost unstoppable. That combination with him and Max came up big tonight. Our defensive mids of Evan Sysko, John Weber, Lewis Goff, and Hayden Byma controlled the game with very strong play." Redmen Coach Dan Salmon said.

Marquette now hosts Kingsford (2-0-1) in their home opener Thursday night.
