DOUBLE DIP: Braves Take Two From Rapid River

GLADSTONE---The Gladstone High School softball team rolled to a pair of wins on Wednesday, beating Rapid River, 10-0 and 15-0. In the opener, Montgomery Pepin threw all four innings, striking out seven batters, and allowing only two hits. Rapid River starter Natalie Belanger got through the first inning, then was hit in the arm with a sharp line drive back into the circle. She left the game. Gladstone went to work on offense, pounding out 13 hits, including the biggest by Alivia Blowers: a three-run home run over the left field fence. Reese Herioux had two hits and two RBI, and Lu Martinez had three hits and scored three runs. Riley Gerou and Kenzington Pepin both had two base hits. Kenzington Pepin had a grand slam home run in the fourth inning to put it away. Martinez added two more base hits and drove in two runs for the Braves. There was also a ceremony where Rapid River's C.C. Pilon was awarded the first-ever full-ride athletic scholarship to be offered by the Bay College Norse. Gladstone improved to 5-2 on the season. Rapid River is 4-5. |
