Claire Vanginhoven scored 26 points and the Gladstone Braves knocked off the Kingsford Flivvers, 53-42, in girls basketball action Tuesday night.

The Braves trailed at halftime, 25-20, but played strong defense in the third quarter in holding Kingsford to just four points.

And then in the fourth quarter, the Flivvers continued to struggle with its shooting and the Braves went on another 14-5 spurt, to build a 49-34 lead with three minutes left. Chloe Hanson drained a triple during that run, and freshman Tia Schone scored on two driving layups.

Laura Bracket led Kingsford with 15 points. Anny Terrian added 13 points for the Flivvers.

The Braves outscored the Flivvers, 33-17, in the second half.
