Braves Outslug Eskymos In All-Delta County Battle

ESCANABA---The Gladstone Braves had four players score in double figures, leading to a 78-66 win over the Escanaba Eskymos Friday night at the Escanaba High School Gym. Jared Vuksan had 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Michael Cretens added 21 points on four three-point baskets. Kyle Kleiman chipped in with 13 points and Blake Ballard, who had the game-winning buzzer-beater on this floor last spring, scored 11 points. Escanaba was led by Brandon Robinette's 26 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Sam Molnar added 11 points for the Eskymos, who fell to 1-3 on the season (1-1 GNC). Gladstone led, 20-15, after the first quarter, and had a big second quarter to take a 39-25 lead into the locker room. The Braves scored the first six points of the third quarter to go on top, 45-25, but faced a late Eskymo challenge that closed the gap to eight points. But the Eskymos could not cut the gap any closer down the stretch. Gladstone (2-1, 1-1 GNC) hosts Mid Peninsula on Tuesday. Escanaba faces Marquette.
