Gladstone Dominates Wrestling Individual District
 NEGAUNEE---The Gladstone Braves will wrestle in the MHSAA Division Three Team Regional Tournament Wednesday in Grayling. And now, 11 of the Braves wrestlers have also qualified for the Individual Regionals next Saturday at Kingsley High School. The Individual Districts were held at the Negaunee High School on Saturday, and the Braves had a bunch of boys make it into the final rounds. Five Gladstone wrestlers won district championships, three finished second, two took third, and one finished fourth. Gladstone's Brandon Gagnon won the first championship match of the day...at 160 pounds...over Negaunee's Tyler Lajoie, 11-5. Then at 112 pounds, James Bruce pinned Austin Scofield of Oscoda in 4:41...and at 125 pounds, Jared Syverson pinned Keaton Parent of Kingsford in 3:12. Other Braves' district champions were 145-pounder Josh Kadish, who beat Boyne City's Connor Mills, 5-0 in the final....and heavyweight Tommy Bailey, who beat Tim Smith of Benzie Central on a 3-0 decision in the championsip final. At 171 pounds, Gladstone's Jake Cronick lost a 4-1 decision to Marcus Shananquet of Elk Rapids and 119-pounder Jake Kujala lost a major decision to York Ash of Benzie Central. And Jeremy Kadish lost a 3-0 decision to Elk Rapids' Kaid Brookshire at 140. Gladstone's Jack Cronick (189 pounds) and Jackson Simison (103) both finished in third place and Bobby Beauchamp (130 pounds) took fourth in his weight class. All 11 Braves wrestlers qualified for the Individual Regionals, with their eyes set on making it to the State Individual Finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills in March.
