UP Division Three Track Teams Compete In Dome
Most of the Upper Peninsula's "small school" track and field teams took part in a meet at the Superior Dome Thursday afternoon. In the girls event, Superior Central was first with 91 points. Bark River-Harris was second with 61, Pickford took third with 44, Forest Park was fourth with 43 points, and Ontonagon took fifth place with 41 points. Individually, SC's Lauren Springer won the 200 and 400 runs. Mid Peninsula's Krista VanDamme won the discuss and shot put. And Big Bay deNoc's Brittany Richard took top spot in the 3200 run. In the boys event, Pickford won with 76 points. Rapid River was second with 72, Forest Park took third with 63 points. Bark River-Harris and Munising tied for fourth with 61. Individually, Mid Pen's Brett Branstrom (pictured above) won the discus. Rapid River's Robert Metter won the pole vault. Bark River-Harris's Trevor Cochrane won the 55 meter hurdles. And BR-H's Dustin DeGrave finished second behind Munising's Andrew Kelto in the 1600 run. Kelto was also the indivudual winner in the 3200 run. |
