The Munising High School volleyball team won a volleyball district championship Thursday night, beating Rapid River, 3-0, in Rapid River. The scores were 25-20, 25-16, and 25-20. Kianne Wendt led the Mustangs with 21 kills. Marissa Ackerman had 14 digs, and Emily Contreras led in assists with 26. Westwood also won its district on Thursday.
The Michigan High School Athletic Association has released the classifications for the next school year, used in basketball and volleyball post-season tournaments. The Munising High School girls cross country team had a perfect score on Wednesday and rolled to the Central U.P. Conference Championship at the Gorzinski Farm in Wilson.

Carney-Nadeau High School has seen many girls basketball teams go downstate over the past 25 years. But the boys basketball program had never won a regional title, until Wednesday night, that is. The Wolves beat the Munising Mustangs, 57-51, to win the Class D title at Negaunee High School.
