HEADING DOWNSTATE: Negaunee Seniors Win
NEGAUNEE---The Negaunee Senior Little League All-Stars (age 15-16) won a District Eleven championship on Sunday, beating Keweenaw twice by identical 10-0 scores at Irontown Field.
Tristan Slater pitched a complete game one-hitter in the opener, allowing one hit and two walks in striking out eleven batters in the five-inning game. Aiden Steele had two hits and three runs batted in for Negaunee.
In the second game, Steele pitched a complete-game no-hitter, which went six innings. He struck out eleven and walked one. Brayden Gleason had two hits and drove in three runs for Negaunee. Slater had two hits, two walks, two runs batted in, and scored three runs.
The Negaunee boys advance to the state tournament, which will be hosted by Southern Grand Rapids Little League, next weekend. That is the same field where the Negaunee Junior Boys won their improbable state championship last summer.
