SERVING UP WINNERS: Tennis Tourney In Esky
ESCANABA---The 77th annual Michigan-Wisconsin tennis tournament is in the books. Dozens of players of all ages converged on Escanaba to play in both singles and doubles competition. The winners included Juan Guerra, who came up from the Traverse City area but is from the South American country of Colombia.
He defeated Kace Lovejoy of Traverse City in the final, 6-1, 6-1.
Tournament Director Tom Penegor says it was nearly 50 years ago that another Colombian, Enrique Quimbaya, defeated Escanaba's Dennis Lueneburg in the finals in both 1975 and 1977.

Men's Class B: Chris Ogren (Escanaba) defeated Dan Hawkins (Gaylord), 6-2, 6-2.
Men's 40's: Felix Abano (Niagara) defeated Ken Swanson (Escanaba0, 8-0
Boys Age 12-15: Chase Korpi (Escanaba) defeated Malakai Broersma (Iron Mountain), 6-3, 7-6.
Boys Age 16-18: Adam Landry (Iron Mountain) defeated Isaac LeBouet (Iron Mountain), 6-2, 6-2.
Girls Age 16-18: Payton Bullock (Marquette) defeated Sonya Maki (Escanaba), 6-2, 6-1.
