FORD FIELD-BOUND! Wrestlers Head To States
The MHSAA individual Wrestling regional tournaments were held this weekend, and 24 Upper Peninsula boys and four U.P. girls have qualified to compete in the state finals at Detroit's Ford Field. To qualify, a wrestler had to finish in the top four at the regional tournaments.
Five Upper Peninsula boys won regional championships, which will lead to higher B)seeds at the state tournament in their respective weight classes. There were five others who finished as regional runners-up, and another 14 finished either third and fourth.
The regional champions were Trevor Thorbahn (Gladstone), Cooper Raab (North Central), Dalton Savoie (Rudyard), Charles Walker (Bark River-Harris), and Evan Asikainen (Negaunee). The state finals are set for
DIVISION TWO at Gaylord 165 pounds: Kaleb Gagne, Escanaba, qualifies by finishing third.
285 pounds: Sawyer Kuenzer, Sault Ste. Marie, qualifies by finishing third.

175 pounds: Max Sundquist, Kingsford, finishes runner-up, qualifies.
