MACKINAW CITY---Ten swimmers from the Northern Michigan University swim program completed a swim across the Straits of Mackinac, swimming under the Mackinac Bridge.
Completing the swim for the Wildcats was Curran Moffit - 1:45 (one hour, 45 min.), Nicola Pasquire - 1:46, Drew Del Papa - 1:47, Jacob Hall - 1:50, Taylor Susa - 1:50, Becca Arakelian - 1:54, Renars Bunzis - 1:56, Ben Lindberg - 1:59,Esteban Gutierrez - 2:00, and Lajos Budai - 2:00.
This swim marks the fourth time the program has completed the approximate five mile dip into the straits, with this year seeing the largest turnout.
The 2017-18 swim teams will begin their season on September 16 at the Collegiate Open Water Nationals in Lawrence, Kansas. Their traditional season begins September 23 with the Green/Gold Meet.
