The Northern Michigan University basketball teams are going dancing. Both the men's and women's teams were selected Sunday night to play in the NCASA Midwest regional tournaments.
WILDCAT MEN HEADED TO ILLINOIS
For the third straight season, the Northern Michigan men's basketball team is in the field of 64 for the Division II NCAA Tournament as Northern has earned an automatic bid by winning the GLIAC Tournament Championship.
The Wildcats will be the No. 6 seed in the Midwest Region and will take on No. 3 and rival Michigan Tech on Saturday, March 15 at 3:30 p.m. ET at host and No. 1 seed Missouri S&T. The game will n played in Springfield, Illinois, and will start at 3:30 Saturday afternoon.
Also in the Midwest, Missouri S&T will play No. 8 Malone, No. 4 Missouri-St. Louis will clash with No. 5 Ferris State, and No. 2 Lake Superior State meets No. 7 Lincoln.
WILDCAT WOMEN GOING BACK TO GRAND VALLEY
The Northern Michigan women's basketball team has earned an at-large bid into the 2025 Division II NCAA Tournament, marking the second straight season the Wildcats are in the big dance. At 22-8, Northern will be the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region and will take on No. 6 Hillsdale on Friday, March 14 at noon at host Grand Valley State.
Also in the region, No. 1 Grand Valley will play No. 8 Quincy, No. 2 Ashland will contend No. 7 Ferris State, and No. 4 Wayne State will battle with No. 5 Lewis.
