The Bay College volleyball team kept pace in the MCCAA standings Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over Delta College in Escanaba.
The scores were 24-26, 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.
"In the third set, we were up, and it looked lile we may let it slip away," Norse Coach Dan Porath said. "Mia Hauser closed it out with a couple of aces that I think kept momentum going for us into the fourth. We won in five sets with them when we played them down there, so we knew it was going to be a tough battle. The girls were really resilient tonight."
Bay was ahead, 19-13, in that third set, fell behind 20-19, but then pulled it out after Hauser's big serves.
The Norse (11-9 overall, 5-4 MCCAA) are hanging on to third place in the MCCAA North Standings with three matches left in the conference season. Two of those are on the road against the top two teams in the confernce, Grand Rapids Community College and Muskegon Community College.
Hauser had nine kills and five service aces. Hope Varoni had 37 assists and 13 digs. Ava Maki had ten kills and three service aces.
Bay libero Jade Jasenovsky of Menominee was named the conference defensive player of the week, and then went out and had 33 digs Wednesday night.
"It's not always noticed because she's always in the right spot, always making the right play," Porath said of Jasenovsky. "It doesn't look as flashy as some of the offensive players, but without her efforts, we would not be where we are right now."
The Norse host Gogebic Community College in a non-conference match next Monday night.
