CHICAGO– The Bay College Norse Men's Basketball Team (7-1) extended their win streak to four games over the weekend as they held on for a 75-72 victory over Oakton Community College (6-3) on Friday night and a 86-79 win over McHenry County College (2-6) on Saturday afternoon.

The Norse led the Owls 35-30 at halftime and never trailed in the second half, though they were never able to pull away.  Bay shot 41.8% from the floor for the game, but fired up 24 three-pointers, only hitting six of them.  They left some points at the free throw line, converting 13 of 20 attempts.

Oakton hit on 41.5% of their shots, and fared better from three, hitting five of 16 attempts.  The Owls made 23 of their 29 free throw attempts.  Bay won the rebounding battle 38-33 and forced 24 turnovers, though they did turn the ball over 19 times themselves.

Trey Frey III (FR, Milwaukee, WI) led the Norse with 15 points.  Adam Page (FR, Chicago, IL) ended with 13 points, while William Kelley (SO, Florence, WI) had 12 points.  Ziad Abouali (FR, Cairo, Egypt) ended his night with ten points, ten rebounds, and six assists.

Mike Massey (FR, Milwaukee, WI) had 15 points for Oakton.  Derryl Gaddi (SO, Des Plaines, IL) and Glenn Howell (FR) had 13 points apiece, while Jason Lee (FR, Antioch, IL)  had ten points.  Justin O'Neal (FR, Dekalb, IL) grabbed 14 rebounds.

On Saturday the Norse took an early five-point lead only to see their offense falter and the Scots build a lead.  McHenry County led by as many as 12 in the late stages of the first half.  A Norse run would make the score 45-39 in favor of the Scots at halftime.

MCC led most of the second half and it took a late charge by the Bay offense to sway the momentum, but Bay would come away with a seven-point victory.

The Norse were 41.5% from the field and hit on eight of 25 three-point attempts.  They got to the free throw line 38 times, but only converted 24 of those attempts.

McHenry County connected on 50.8% of their attempts but only converted four of 18 from behind the three-point arc.  They made 13 of 21 from the free throw line.

Bay would win the rebounding battle 40-33.  They also got extra possessions on turnovers as they created 19 Scot turnovers, while McHenry forced them into 15.

Savion Johnson (SO, Milwaukee, WI) led the Norse with 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Frey picked up 12 points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  Taveon Vann (SO, Milwaukee, WI) and Page also added 12 points apiece.

Caeden Myers (SO, Appleton, WI) led all scorers with 21 points and nine rebounds.  Former Norse Ezra Brown (SO, Appleton, WI) ended with 11 points, five rebounds, and six assists.  Nick Vuckovic (SO, Hanover Park, IL) had 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Malachi Barrett (SO, Evanston, IL) added ten points.

The Norse will return home to host the Terrace Bay Holiday Classic tournament on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13.  North Central Michigan College will face off with Milwaukee Area Tech on Friday at 4 pm, while the Norse will take on Glen Oaks Community College at 8 pm.  On Saturday NCMC takes on Glen Oaks at 12 pm, while the Norse will finish off the weekend against MATC at 4 pm.
