Bay College Ladies Keep Pace In Conference Race With Easy Win

ESCANABA---The Bay College Norse women's basketbball team rolled to a 96-38 win over the North Central Michigan College Timberwolves Wednesday night in Escanaba.

The Norse jumped to a 26-12 lead after one quarter, and after a sluggish second quarter, the ladies dominated the third quarter, 35-9, to post the victory.

The win allowed Bay to improve to 7-1 in conference play, 18-4 overall. The Norse kept pace with first place Mid Michigan, which improved to 8-0 with an easy win over Montcalm Community College. Bay will face Montcalm on the road this Saturday.

McKenzie Hoffmeyer led Bay with 25 points, four assists, six rebounds, and eight steals on defense. She made nine of her 13 field goal attempts, including 5-of-7 three-pointers.

Lauren Zawada had a double-double of 18 points and ten rebounds, and Nina Bower added 17 points and seven boards.

NCMC (3-17 overall, 1-7 MCCAA) was led by Evelyn VanTol's 12 points. Cadence Cullen, the twin sister to Bay College's Addison Cullen, had six points and nine rebounds for the Timberwolves. Addison Cullen had two points and six boards for Bay.

The Bay College-Montcalm game starts at 1:00 Saturday and it will be broadcast live on Maverick 106.3 FM and on-line through the audio link at www.baynorse.com.
