ESCANABA---The Bay College Norse men's basketball team jumped to a 13-0 lead on Saturday and rolled to a 93-68 win over the Muskegon Community Jayhawks at the Bay College Gym. The win moved the Norse into second place in the MCCAA standings after last-place Alpena Community College stunned Montcalm Community College, 87-84.
It was Alpena's first win of the season while Montcalm fell to third place in the standings, one game behind the Norse with three to go. Derian Williams had 30 points for Alpena.

Meanwhile, here in Escanaba, it was Alumni Day for the Norse, with some former players coming back for the game and a social gathering in the evening. They were recognized at halftime,
Emerson Droubie drained six triples and scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Norse. He had scored 34 points in a recent home game before struggling during Bay's road win at Alpena last Wednesday. Droubie also had nine rebounds in Saturday's victory.
William Kelley added three triples and had 14 points and six rebounds. The Norse nailed 15 three-point baskets on Saturday after hitting a school record 17 triples last Wednesday in Alpena. Taveon Vann added a double-double of ten points and ten rebounds as Bay improved to 19-6 overall, 8-3 in MCCAA North play.
Trey Frye III also reached double figures in scoring with ten points, and he had five assists and four rebounds. Trevor Nolan and Mohamed Madey both scored eight points.
Mid Michigan College remained undefeated with a victory over Kirtland Community College on Saturday, and the Lakers have all-but wrapped up the conference championship, which will send them to the state tournament weekend in Detroit.
Muskegon (10-14 overall, 4-7 MCCAA) fell out of a playoff position with the loss. The Jayhawks got six triples and 18 points from Lamarkis Graham. Darryl Thompkins added 14 points and grabbed five rebounds. Ny'Zhem Marshall chipped in 13 points and eight boards.
Bay College has one more regular season home game, this Wednesday night for Sophomore Night against the Kirtland Firebirds. The Norse will close the regular season next weekend with a long five-day trip downstate, with games at Delta College and Mid Michigan College. All Bay games are broadcast live on Maverick 106.3 FM.
