Legion Tournament Pool Play Wraps Up; Semifinals Set Sunday

ESCANABA---The annual Gregg Johnson Memorial American Legion Baseball tournament wrapped up pool play late Saturday night after ten more games were played in Escanaba and in Wells Township. The tournament saw 20 pool play games since Friday morning, and the ten teams were reduced to four semifinalists for Sunday.

The Kingsford Greens will join three Wisconsin teams in the final four,.

The host Escanaba Cubs won two games Saturday by the mercy rule after losing two games Friday by the mercy rule. The Cubs did not qualify for the Final Four, however. Negaunee's new legion team came from behind Saturday night to beat Kingsford, 7-5, but Negaunee finished out of the Final Four with a 2-2 record.
