MARQUETTE, Mich.– The Northern Michigan football team hosted the Tiffin Dragons from Ohip in its home opener on Saturday night in the Superior Dome, falling 35-7.
The Wildcat defense played stout in a scoreless first quarter in which they held Tiffin to just 58 yards, but the visitors exploded for 213 yards and three scores in the second quarter to lead 21-7 at the break. They found the end zone two more times in the second half.
Noah Dobert scored NMU's lone touchdown, an 11-yard scamper in the second quarter. He toted the rock 18 times for 113 yards to account for over half of the Wildcat offense (222). Tiffin QB Kyle Antoine threw for 267 yards and a pair of scores to lead the Dragons' 454-yard effort.
Northern fell to 0-2 on the season and will travel to Minnesota next Saturday to face the St. Thomas Tommies. Kick-off is set for 1:00 ET on September 12th.
