ESCANABA---The Bay College Norse volleyball team keeps on rolling. The ladies swept North Central Michigan College, 3-0, Wednesday night, on Sophomore Night.
The scores were 26-24, 25-12, and 25-18. Bay had lost to the Timberwolves earlier this season. Norse Coach Dan Porath says his team continues to work hard, and have fun doing it, and now Bay is within striking distance for a MCCAA North Conference championship, which would see the team host the state championships on Nov. 1.
“We reviewed the film (from the earlier loss) and executed well,” Porath said. “This week has been tough. We played Monday. A little bit of practice Tuesday. We played Wednesday. We'll have a little bit of practice tomorrow. Then we play Friday. But we're playing some good volleyball, even in some of our losses. We've put ourselves in a good position.”
The Norse are now 7-2 in MCCAA North Conference play, with three matches still to go (against Montcalm, Kirtland, Alpena).
The Norse are ahead of Delta (7-3) and Muskegon (4-4) in the standings. The Norse are 13-6 overall, and will host Gogebic Community College in a non-conference match Friday night. First serve is 6:30 ET in Escanaba.
