Escanaba Girls Win Munising Cheerleading Classic
 MUNISING---The Escanaba High School competitive cheerleading team won the championship of the U.P. Cheer Classic on Saturday in Munising. The Eskymos had 714.78 points. Kingsford was second with 687.22 and Munising was third with 667.44. Manistique was fourth with 655.84 points, Norway was fifth with 629.98, and East Jordan finished sixth with 609.50. Escanaba won both the first and second rounds, with Kingsford edging the Eskymos by one point to take the third round. But Escanaba had a big enough lead to win the event.
