Esky Girls, Marquette Boys Win Golf Quad Meet
ESCANABA---The conditions were less than ideal, but four high school golf teams managed to get in a quadrangular meet Thursday at the Escanaba Country Club. In the girls meet, Escanaba edged Gladstone 207-208, with Marquette third (219) and Kingsford fourth (271). Marquette's Avery Rochester was the medalist with a 43, while Escanaba's Jayln Dagenais was runner-up with a 44. Three girls tied with 48's: Escanaba's Kelsey Motto and Gladstone's Callie Jensen and Kali Dykes. In the boys meet, Marquette won with 316 strokes. The Redmen swept the top three spots as Brett Specker shot a 77, Alex Palmer carded a 78, and Brett Heikkila shot a 79. Escanaba was second with 331 as Kevin Gendron and Jack Pouliot came in with 81's. Kingsford was third (350) and Gladstone (358) was fourth as the boys shot the "back nine" twice in the rain.
