Schwalbach Leads Braves Comeback Over St. Ignace

ST. IGNACE---The Gladstone High School boys basketball team has not seen much action this season, with a couple of December games being pushed into January.

The Braves were on the court Saturday for just the third time this season, and it looked like the boys would leave the Straits area with a loss.

But sophomore Ben Schwalbach stepped up with some clutch three-pointers as the Braves rallied past the St. Ignace Saints, 64-62.

Schwalbach scored a team-high 15 points, including four three-point baskets. Tyler Wells aded 14 points and eight rebounds.

Gladstone improved to 3-0 on the win, with all three games being on the road.

Hunter Garling scored 11 points, while Hunter Botruff and Justin Jurek each added nine.

Garling also chipped in with seven rebounds, and Andy Olesak had seven boards. Gladstone made six of 17 three-point attempts (35.2%), and 12-of-20 shots from the free throw line (60.0%).

St. Ignace (1-2) got 21 points from Cole Thompson and 20 from Gage Kreski.

Gladstone plays its home-opener Monday night against the Marquette Redmen. The game will be broadcast live on WCHT-AM (600), and on-line at www.rrnsports.com.
