BR-H Broncos Fight Off Nordics For District Title
HARRIS---When the Bark River-Harris Broncos and North Dickinson Nordics played twice in the regular season, the Broncos won both games by 20 points. But this is March Madness, or as the MHSAA calls it, March Magic. Either way, facing the end of their season seems to bring the best out of teams in March. And for a long time Friday night, the Broncos had their hands full with the Nordics in a fast-paced game. North Dickinson (11-12) led, 38-32, with just over two minutes left in the second quarter. Miranda Jacobson was a key to the Nordic offense, and she crossed the 1,000 point mark in her ND career during this game. But the Broncos have a balanced attack, and they scored the final eight points of the second quarter to take the halftime lead. And then BR-H scored the first eleven points of the third quarter. It was a 19-0 run that gave the Broncos a 51-38 lead. The Bronost were fueled by three-pointers from Caitlyn Frazer, Maddison Lindquist, and Hannah Starnes during the first quarter, but ND still led, 23-18, after that quarter. Bark River-Harris (20-2) will face Munising (21-1) in the regional semifinals Tuesday night in Kingsford. Munising won its district Friday over Rapid River, 49-32.
