NASCAR Coming To Escanaba's 'Fun Run' Weekend

ESCANABA---The Krusin Klassic's Car Club is planning its "Fun Run" weekend in Escanaba on May 29-30. It is the 30th anniversary for the event, which features classic cars from throughout the Midwest.

This year's event will include a special attraction: the NASCAR #88 car of driver Dale Earnhardt, Jr. The announcement was made Friday morning.

Krusin Klassics Board member Jim Lippens says this is an unusual  opportunity for Upper Peninsula NASCAR fans to get up close to an actual NASCAR vehicle.

"It's very unique to get a NASCAR car here," Lippens said. "Normally, we watch NASCAR on TV. Not many people from the Upper Peninsula get to see NASCAR (in person). But we had some connections through Greg Ives to bring this car here. We made quite a few phone calls and we made the decision that we would try to get it here."

Ives, a Bark River native, is Dale Earnhardt, Jr's new crew chief, and he was instrumental in getting the car to the Upper Peninsula. It will be on display at the U-P State Fairgrounds on May 30th and there is no extra cost to see it.

All you need to do is pay the five dollar admission fee to the show that day.

This year's car show will also include motorcycles, snowmobiles, tractors, and race cars. There will also be a parade in downtown Escanaba at 7:00 on the night of May 29th.
