Polecats Build Big Lead, But Lose To Railroaders

ESCANABA---The Escanaba Polecats baseball team built a big lead after four innings, but the Channing Railroaders rallied for an 8-7 victory in a Wisigan League game Wednesday night at Al Ness Field.

Ben Kleiman held the Railroaders to just one run through four innings, but several errors helped to elevate his pitch count. Devin Olsen relieved Kleiman.

Troy Taromina had a two-run single in the fourth inning for Escanaba, and Alex DeHaan followed with a two-run hit to give the Polecats a 6-1 lead.

But Channing rallied with seven unanswered runs.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Escanaba trailed, 8-7, and loaded the bases with two out. But Nick Laviolette took a called third strike to end the game.
