MARQUETTE---The Northern Michigan University volleyball team will host an open tryout for its remaining roster positions for the 2016-17 season Jan. 16 at Vandament Arena.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with the tryout following from noon to 2 p.m. Participants will be assessed on their overall skill and technique, strength and conditioning and understanding of game play.

Individuals interested in trying out must be a junior or senior who has completed her high school volleyball competition for the year, a junior college transfer or a four-year transfer who has a release from her current university.

All participants will need to submit the following items before Jan. 8 to participate in the tryout:

1. High school transcript
2. ACT or SAT test scores
3. College transcript (if applicable)
4. College release (if applicable)
5. Completed medical packet with a physical dated within the past six months
6. Must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center

It is important that participants turn in the above items in advance and that they bring all necessary volleyball equipment (shoes, knee pads, ankle braces, athletic apparel, etc.) to the tryout.
